

Enterprise and Work Related Learning.
As part of Enterprise Across the Curriculum we have looked at the key skills desired by employers of young people. Whilst most students leave Sawtry Community College with excellent examination results we wanted to develop our students to ensure they were able to offer employers more than academic success. Preparing students for the place of work involves a range of activities throughout their time at Sawtry Community College. They Key Skills looked at with Enterprise are:
These skills are developed across the curriculum and further built upon during formal Work Related Learning activities such as Work Experience. The framework as set out by the Government concentrates of the following aspects:
Throughout a students time at Sawtry Community College they will experience a variety of activities to help equip them with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to enter and thrive in the working world.
At the college we recognise the importance of preparing each student to take their place in the community. To help achieve this all year 10 students will take part in the work experience programme, which is made up of two weeks in a specific business.
Work Experience for all students is:
Monday 12 July 2010 – Thursday 22 July 2010.
