Geography Field Trip Sept 2008
Year 11 Geography Fieldtrip – Lake District September 2008
In September 2008 the Year 11 Geography Students from Sawtry College spent a week studying various aspects of the Lake District National Park.
We were incredibly lucky with some late summer sun, and very unusually for the Lake District we didn’t see a drop of rain for the whole week. The students stayed at Ambleside youth hostel which has a stunning Lake Side location, the first day was spent studying the impacts of tourism on the town of Ambleside (their GCSE Coursework topic), the following day getting wet undertaking river studies in Langdale and the third day was spent studying the impacts of human activity on the natural environment of the Coniston and Langdale areas. The students also made a visit to White Scar Caverns in the Yorkshire Dales en route.
The students were without fail a credit to themselves and to the College, they all worked hard, behaved excellently and thoroughly enjoyed the week.
