Sawtry Day Nursery
Sawtry Day Nursery is a 38 place, fully air-conditioned, purpose built nursery with excellent outdoor facilities, and is located within Sawtry Community College grounds. The Nursery has separate facilities for babies, toddlers and pre-school. Within each room, the staff aim to provide an environment that is warm and inviting.
“...The quality of teaching and learning… (and the) … partnership with parents and carers is outstanding...” (OFSTED 2007)
The Nursery received ‘outstanding’ in its most recent Ofsted inspection and continues to use current research to continually improve its practice to provide the best possible care for children and their parents/carers, and to use the most effective methods to enable children to reach their full potential.
The Nursery understands the vital role that parents play in the development of their children and aims to establish a true parent partnership by liaising and providing ongoing opportunities for parents/carers to be involved in the Nursery and in the development of their children’s learning. Each child is allocated a keyperson whose role includes building a good rapport with both the child and the family, providing personal individualised care, and ensuring that each of their key children is emotionally secure thus enabling them to learn most effectively from the environment and provision on offer.
Sawtry Day Nursery is committed to the integration of all children in its care. The Nursery believes that by early identification of additional individual needs and by taking proactive steps alongside parents/carers, other statutory professionals and agencies, all children should be able to play a full, active and equal part in the Nursery’s activities.
The dedicated Nursery team demonstrates high levels of enthusiasm, motivation and care in the service that they provide. They are friendly, approachable and have good communication skills. The team is highly qualified and has
“... skilfully set up a child-friendly environment that offers children a wide range of exciting play opportunities both indoors and outdoors...” (OFSTED 2007).
Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) principles, the team observe and reflect on the children’s spontaneous play and plan a developmentally appropriate environment with enticing and exciting experiences that the children can freely choose from to consolidate, challenge and extend their knowledge and understanding. Children’s achievements are acknowledged and praised, increasing their confidence and self-belief so that they can learn independently; a skill that is essential for further development, school and lifelong learning.
It is the intention that the Nursery provides a firm foundation for each child to make positive contributions to their community and to enjoy future success.
