2003 to 2010
Introduction
Sawtry Community College has had a long tradition of providing high quality initial teacher education in partnership with a wide number of University Education Faculties ( Cambridge University, University of Bedford shire, Open University, University of London and Bath Spa ) and employment based training e.g. Cambridge Partnership. In 2003 the college had developed the calibre of staff and the capacity to make a successful bid for Training School status against the new criteria for Workforce reform and CPD for all staff linked in with performance management and school improvement plans.
2003 – Training School status and Training school Model based on a culture of CPD in a Learning
Organisation.
Microsoft Partner School and establishment of the IT Academy
Creation of Child Whispering behaviour management and Video Confidence programmes
Strategic leadership programmes on of ICT & e-learning and Community Education.
2006 – Created the Cambridge Consortium in partnership with Villiers Park and in 2009 with the
Eastern Leadership Centre and Five Higher performing schools in East England.
Established the Cambridgeshire Local Authority and Training Schools strategy group to
commission work with the Training School. Sawtry undertook to support:
2008 – Memorandum of Agreement with TDA for the Cambridge Partnership GTP programme
Training School partnership developed with Thomas Clarkson school in Wisbech
TDA pilot scheme for school based Masters in Education with ARU and East England Training
Schools.
General Teaching Council pilot scheme for Teacher Learning Academy
2009 – TDA Pilot scheme for cluster based CPD – Fenland Professional development Partnership
Pilot Masters in Teaching and Learning.
A 21st Century Professional development Model for a Learning Organisation
