The My Child at Sawtry pages are, first and foremost, intended to provide parents with secure access to detail about their child as an individual.  They combine the government initiative for Online Reporting to Parents (ORP) with other useful facilities, such as their child’s homework and Parentpay, the online method of paying for lunch and educational visits, amongst other things.  It also provides the wherewithal for students to gain individualised secure access to Class Server, the College Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which contains many of the tasks that our young people have to do in school or for homework.

Under ORP, by September 2010 parents of secondary children must be able to access information about their child’s attendance, special needs, learning profile and behaviour.  Between now and then the College will be equipped with the software and hardware to achieve this, and will plan its practices so that parents gain accurate and up to date information about their child, including being able to check that their son or daughter has arrived safely at school each day.

Other details, such as a timetable of Educational Visits, and useful links to revision and other classroom based websites will also be included under “My Child at Sawtry”, so that parents and students can plan effectively and have access to help when it comes to taking examinations.  College expectations of behaviour can also be found in these pages.

We look forward to building the “My Child at Sawtry” section as the 2009-10 academic year goes by.  If you have suggestions as to what else may be included, please do not hesitate to contact the College and put forward your idea.  As long as it is physically possible, secure, and of benefit to a good number of parents and students, we shall consider it for inclusion.
