Sports Achievements in 2009-2010
Every student at Sawtry has the opportunity to take a full and active part in Extra Curricular PE. In 2009-10 Sawtry achieved some fantastic success on the sports field. This is a reflection of the hard work of the college staff and the students involved in these teams. For a school of our size to regularly take on and beat schools much bigger and with better facilities than ourselves is something we are rightly proud of.

2008 - 2009 Review
This past year saw the largest number of certificates awarded to students at Sawtry Community College at the four Celebration Evenings. The 236 awards ranged from academic achievement in the shape of subject awards to sports awards.
Last year was particularly poignant with the awarding of the James Hanna Trophy for achievement in Key Stage 3 Maths awarded to Mohammed Khizir and the Alex Gale Award for contribution to College life awarded to Jessica Smith. The awards were richly deserved and reflect the tremendous commitment students have displayed, both within and when representing the College.
School colours and half colours are awarded to those students who have proven to have outstanding EFFORT, ACHIEVEMENT and CONTRIBUTION towards the life of the college.
Students are nominated and seconded by staff members for colours and half colours and all nominations are then considered by a committee. These are the highest non academic accolades a student at Sawtry Community College can achieve.
It is hoped that the awarding of school colours and half colours will have a positive effect on our students and help develop their pride, not only in themselves but also the college as a whole. It is expected that these students will then become role models for younger students and help raise the bar of expectation for all.
The awards are in the form of a limited edition tie, that are looked upon as a privilege with students expecting to must wear them with pride and act accordingly. In Year 9 the following students received half colours; Charlotte Browning, Danni Symonette, Ryan Weir, Alex Mulley, Sarah Scott and Ashley Bolton.
In Year 10 the following students received Half Colours: Dalton Harris,
James Murtagh, Jonny Collins and Megan Matthews. Full colours were awarded to Eden Evans, Robyn Chatfield and Amy Harber.
There are other areas of this web site that highlight in detail the fantastic achievements academically and from the sports teams at Sawtry. It needs to be acknowledged that this spirit of achievement in both realms does set a very positive atmosphere and is an inspiration for newer students at the college to set targets for achievement.
I am sure that this year will bring even more awards and make parents, the staff, and students who attend the college, proud to be part of the success it generates.
