Sawtry Community College Mission Statement:

We will offer everyone the opportunity to realise their full potential within a caring and supportive learning environment.
Sawtry Community College is a 11-19 school, situated in the heart of the pleasant village of Sawtry, roughly equidistant between Peterborough and Huntingdon. There are approximately 1400 students at the College, including a Sixth Form of over 200. The College became a designated Academy Trust on August 1st 2011.

Over the last decade, the College has gone from strength to strength. As a government designated Maths and Computing Specialist College, students come not only from the large rural catchment area that surrounds Sawtry, but also from Peterborough and Huntingdon, giving the College a diverse range of student backgrounds. Examination results are very strong year on year.
SCC is committed to providing a learning, care and support programme which is suited to all its students both in and outside the classroom, no matter what their ability or background. The campus is equipped to facilitate access to students and staff with physical disabilities and all students can extend their enjoyment of school life beyond the classroom, due to wide ranging extra curricular activities. The College has a proud reputation for producing highly successful sports teams for both boys and girls and large numbers of students take advantage of the opportunities available. There are regular musical and theatrical performances and a range of other frequent or occasional activities to support the interests of as many students as possible. Students benefit academically and pastorally from a well embedded vertical tutoring structure built around the two schools of St Judith’s and St Andrew’s divided into zones called Royce, Sinclair, Keynes, Darwin, Eliot and Clarkson.

Built on an attractive site, facilities include enviable provision for ICT which more than meets the needs of the curriculum. The College shares excellent indoor sporting facilities with the local leisure centre, including a swimming pool, and dance and fitness gym spaces.  Classrooms are well equipped with modern technology to aid learning and staff are trained to make best possible use of the technology in our Microsoft IT Academy.  There is a strong feeling of “learning” across the College, not only for students, but also for staff. Many develop their own educational skills and knowledge whilst at the College to a high level, including Masters and PhD qualifications.

Above all the College is a dynamic and constantly developing environment to ensure that its students receive the best possible chances to achieve, whatever their needs and wishes. Apart from being a high performing school, the College also benefits from strong partnership activities and services e.g. Microsoft Mentor Partner, Prince’s Teaching Institute and Cambridge Partnership for teacher training – accolades which are the result of many years of hard work and sound strategic action, in a “can do” atmosphere.
